Candice Burge, Practice Manager
Candice Burge joined Southern Veterinary Clinic in March 2024 as our full-time Practice Manager, bringing more than two decades of experience and a deep-rooted passion for veterinary medicine. Her journey in the animal-care field began in 1998 when she started working with Dr. Stringfellow at one of his previous practices in Picayune, MS. Candice spent 17 years as a dedicated veterinary technician before transitioning into management, where she has continued to thrive.
In her role as Practice Manager, Candice oversees scheduling, coordinates daily operations, and ensures that our clinic runs smoothly for both clients and staff. Her favorite part of the job? The people. As she puts it, “I love people, so the team interactions are my favorite.” Candice’s warm leadership style, combined with her extensive hands-on experience, makes her an invaluable support system for the entire team.
Candice’s home is full of furry (and hooved!) companions. She shares life with Stanley, a 2-year-old West Highland Terrier; Willard, a 1-year-old mixed breed; and three beloved outdoor dogs—Lola (8), Lucy (10), and Dottie (8). She also cares for horses and cows, reflecting her lifelong connection to animals and outdoor living.
When asked why she enjoys working at Southern Veterinary Clinic, Candice says, “This practice has been one of the best so far—I continue to learn and grow each and every day as a manager and have met some of the sweetest clients and patients.”
Outside the clinic, Candice embraces a hands-on, rural lifestyle. She enjoys farming, sewing, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. Her dedication, experience, and compassionate leadership make her an essential and much-loved part of our team.
Cassie Hughes, Veterinary Technician Manager
Cassie Hughes has been with Southern Veterinary Clinic since July 2022, serving as our full-time Veterinary Technician Manager. With over 21 years of experience in the animal-care field, Cassie brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and calm expertise to every corner of the clinic.
In her role, Cassie oversees a wide range of responsibilities—from triage and running diagnostic tests to hands-on patient care and educating clients. She plays a key part in presenting treatment plans, managing scheduling, and training new technicians and assistants.
Cassie’s home life is as full of animals as her workday. She shares her life with four dogs—Elsa, a 6-year-old Pit/Mastiff mix; Dixie, a 5-year-old German Shepherd; Gumbo, a lively 1-year-old French Bulldog; and Athena, an 8-month-old Cane Corso. She also has three cats—Simon (6), Shadow (5), and Jessica Day (1); a 7-year-old bearded dragon named Frieda; and five backyard chickens.
When asked what she enjoys about working at Southern Veterinary Clinic, Cassie says, “I like the wide variety of pets we get to see daily. The doctors are great and I have some amazing coworkers.”
Outside the clinic, Cassie loves spending quality time with her husband and five children. She enjoys reading, swimming, fishing, and cooking.
Clarinda E. Crabtree, Veterinary Technician
Clarinda E. Crabtree has been an invaluable part of the Southern Veterinary Clinic team since September 2014, bringing her dedication, positivity, and creativity to her role as a Veterinary Technician. Her responsibilities are extensive, encompassing patient care, diagnostic testing, medication administration, client education, and supporting her colleagues—whom she affectionately considers her work family. Clarinda takes particular pride in assisting with surgeries and helping clients understand the essentials of caring for their beloved pets.
Clarinda’s positive attitude and unique creativity make her a wonderful presence in the clinic, and her love for animals is reflected in her extensive pet family. She has three dogs: Dallas, a 3-year-old American Bulldog; Jack, a 2-year-old American Bulldog; and Sprinkles, a 5-year-old mixed breed. Her home is also shared by Rocket, a 5-year-old Chinchilla; Drako, a 6-year-old Bearded Dragon; and various other animals, including cats, cows, chickens, mice, and even a mini donkey!
For Clarinda, working at Southern Veterinary Clinic is more than just a job. She finds deep satisfaction in the supportive, family-like environment and believes her boss is truly one of the best in the field. The clinic’s collaborative atmosphere allows her to thrive and offer the best care possible to each patient.
Outside of work, Clarinda loves spending time outdoors and with her family. Her hobbies include relaxing by the river, fishing, beach outings, and the occasional crafting project. Family is central to her life, and she enjoys every moment spent with loved ones.

Ray Bullock, Veterinary Technician
Ray Bullock joined Southern Veterinary Clinic in August 2025 as a full-time Veterinary Technician, bringing more than five and a half years of animal-care experience to our team. As one of our skilled barn technicians, Ray plays an important role in the care and handling of our large-animal patients. His responsibilities include performing lab work, assisting with diagnostic testing, and providing safe and effective restraint to ensure the well-being of both patients and staff.
Ray’s favorite part of his job is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals. Whether he’s supporting a critical case or helping with routine care, he values being part of a compassionate team and contributing to the health and recovery of the pets entrusted to us.
At home, Ray is surrounded by his own four-legged family. He has two domestic shorthair cats, Reese and Kubota, along with two dogs—Cammie, a Beagle, and Stella, an Aussie Shepherd/Catahoula mix.
When he’s not at the clinic, Ray loves spending time outdoors. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping.

Sierra Farmer, Kennel Manager
Sierra Farmer joined Southern Veterinary Clinic as our Kennel Manager on July 29, 2024. With over two years of experience in the animal care field, Sierra brings dedication and a hands-on approach to her role. Her responsibilities include administering medications, walking dogs, and ensuring that kennels are clean, comfortable, and ready for pets’ return home. She also assists in surgical procedures, prepping and caring for animals before and after surgery—a part of her role she especially enjoys for the learning opportunities it provides.
Sierra is known for her hard-working attitude and proactive mindset, always stepping up to help the team. Before joining us, she worked at an animal shelter and Magnolia Animal Clinic, building her skills and passion for animal care. Her favorite aspect of working at Southern Veterinary Clinic is the supportive, family-like environment, where the doctors, managers, and coworkers are always ready to lend a hand.
At home, Sierra has an 8-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier and Lab mix named Lacey. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, playing volleyball, listening to music, and spending time with friends.
Chloeana Danielle Helton, Kennel Technician
Chloeana Danielle Helton joined our team as a full-time Kennel Technician on July 1, 2024, and brings with her a lifelong love for animals and hands-on experience from her family’s farm. Growing up caring for everything from dogs to horses and cows, Chloeana has a deep understanding of animal care that she now applies in her work here every day. Her responsibilities include feeding, watering, and walking our patients, as well as providing additional support in surgery, ensuring every pet receives the attention and compassion they deserve.
Chloeana’s favorite part of the job is being part of a team that feels like family. She loves knowing that everyone here shares the same goal: to protect, care for, and find good homes for animals. Chloeana’s positive attitude and sense of humor bring warmth to the clinic, and she’s known for brightening everyone’s day with her laughter and enthusiasm.
Outside of work, Chloeana is dedicated to her own animals—a Yorkie named Lexie, a Husky mix named Bear, as well as her family’s horses and cows. She spends her free time riding her horses, playing with her siblings, and helping out on the farm. A devoted member of her church community, she enjoys serving others and spreading kindness. For Chloeana, making people smile and living by her faith are top priorities, and she believes in giving back through her actions.
Kinley Danielle Smith, Kennel Technician
Kinley Danielle Smith is a dedicated Kennel Technician at Southern Veterinary Clinic, where she brings a positive attitude, a warm sense of humor, and a deep love for animals to her role. Joining the team in August 2024, Kinley’s responsibilities include monitoring animals before and after surgery, caring for boarding pets, and ensuring they feel comfortable and at home. Her favorite part of the job is tending to the boarding animals, providing them with compassionate care and a cozy environment.
Kinley’s passion for animals extends beyond the clinic—she has a lively home filled with a mini Goldendoodle, seven cows, a turkey, and four chickens. In her free time, she enjoys teaching her dog new tricks, and she finds fulfillment in gardening, hunting, writing, and reading. Her faith is central to her life, and her favorite activity is worshiping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Kinley loves the positive, supportive atmosphere at Southern Veterinary Clinic and enjoys learning something new every day with her team. She looks forward to continuing to bring comfort and joy to the animals in her care.

Anna Klaire Andrews, Kennel Technician
At Southern Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to have Anna as a full-time Kennel Technician on our team. Anna Klaire joined us in June 2025, and her warm personality, strong work ethic, and genuine love for animals have made her an invaluable part of our daily operations.
In her role, Anna is responsible for keeping our kennels clean, safe, and comfortable while ensuring every pet in our care receives the attention and compassion they deserve. She brings an exceptional level of cleanliness, efficiency, and a consistently positive attitude to every shift.
One of Anna's favorite parts of her job is playing with the dogs, and it’s easy to see how much joy it brings her and our patients. She shares her home with a lively group of pets of her own: three dogs, Maggie, a Labrador Retriever; Tilly, a Basset Hound; and Lucy, another Labrador, as well as two cats, Lillie and Sweetpea.
Outside of work, Anna enjoys playing with dogs, cheerleading, and working out. We are grateful to have her as part of the Southern Veterinary Clinic family and look forward to seeing her continue to grow in her role.
Carly Morse, Kennel Technician
At Southern Veterinary Clinic, we are grateful to have Carly as a dedicated full-time Kennel Technician. Carly plays an essential role in maintaining the safety, comfort, and well-being of the pets entrusted to our care. Her responsibilities include caring for our boarding pets and ensuring that patients feel secure and supported both before and after surgery.
Carly brings a willingness to learn and a genuinely caring heart to her work, qualities that make her a natural fit for our team and a compassionate caregiver for both pets and their owners.
When asked about her favorite part of the job, Carly shares, “I enjoy taking care of all the sweet fur babies that come in, the positive and welcoming atmosphere, and being part of an amazing team.”
At home, Carly is surrounded by a lively and loving group of animals. She shares her life with Daisy, her 5-year-old Pitbull; Cody, her 6-month-old Australian Shepherd; two horses, Nelly (15 years old) and Honey (3 years old); and three cats: Muffin (8), Munchkin (7), and Mr. Whiskers (11).
Carly describes Southern Veterinary Clinic as more than a workplace, saying, “I enjoy working at Southern Veterinary Clinic because it is much more than just employees, it’s a family. At Southern, everyone loves and cares for the animals far beyond words. I love working here because of the caring, uplifting, and encouraging atmosphere.”
Outside of work, Carly enjoys studying, reading her Bible, riding her horses, and spending quality time with her pets and family. Her passion for animal care extends beyond the clinic, especially through trail riding and working with her horses as she prepares to compete in barrel races and shows.
Jessica Goff, Receptionist / Veterinary Technician
Jessica Goff joined Southern Veterinary Clinic full-time in May 2025, bringing a strong blend of client service experience and hands-on patient care to our team. Serving as both a Receptionist and Veterinary Technician, Jessica is often one of the first friendly faces our clients meet. She helps guide each visit from start to finish—answering phones, scheduling appointments, welcoming clients, checking patients in and out, and assisting with vaccinations and daily patient care.
Jessica has been working in the animal-care field since 2021 and loves the balance of supporting both pets and the people who love them. Her favorite parts of the job include meeting all the adorable pets who visit our clinic and educating clients so they feel confident in every aspect of their pet’s health.
At home, Jessica shares her days with Justina, a 7-year-old mixed breed cat; Percy, a 3-year-old domestic shorthair; Priscilla, a playful 5-month-old Siamese; and Freckles, her energetic 21-month-old Australian Shepherd. Outside of work, Jessica enjoys unwinding with a good book or diving into a new game.

Anna Laura Batley, Receptionist
Anna Laura Batley joined our team as a part-time receptionist, where she plays a key role in ensuring that every client and their sick pets have the best possible experience at our office. Her responsibilities include greeting customers, answering questions, and making sure pets are well taken care of during their visit. Anna Laura enjoys engaging with clients about their pets and working closely with our dedicated staff to create a positive atmosphere.
Known for her task-driven approach and friendly attitude, Anna Laura is committed to providing excellent service to every client who walks through the door. She is currently enrolled at Jones County Junior College, furthering her education while working with us.
At home, Anna Laura is the proud owner of two rescue dogs, Benji and Grayson, both 5 years old. She enjoys working at our clinic because of the welcoming environment and because she has been a long-time client, bringing her own pets here for years. In her free time, Anna Laura enjoys camping, shopping, and watching movies.
